Val d'Aosta in Smíchov

A thoroughly hilariously themed dinner, March 26 from 7 p.m., Konírna Smíchov

Get your hiking boots, walking sticks, and backpacks ready, because this themed dinner is going to be quite a hike!

Val d'Aosta is a mountainous region in northern Italy on the border with France and Switzerland. You can probably imagine how its location determines the local style of cuisine and wine production. The green hills are mainly grazed by cows, which provide excellent milk for cheese production, and the vineyards are located at unusually high altitudes, sometimes up to 800 meters above sea level.

During this purely regional dinner, we will introduce you to three local specialties:

Fontina d'Alpeggio cheese from Jotaz

Jambon alla Brace ham roasted over a fire from Mathieu Cerisey

Wines from the Les Cretes winery

In addition to the excellent Fontina from the alpeggio mountain pastures at an altitude of 2,300 meters, which is a staple of our range, Jotaz will also bring veal from his own farm to Prague.

The aroma of fire-roasted Valdostan ham will fill the entire Konírna, and we will bake special mountain bread to accompany it. Les Cretes wines, which are strikingly reminiscent of the Burgundy style due to the very similar subsoil, will complement this Italian/French/Swiss fusion by Tamara Zanellato in both white and red varieties.

Be aware that after this high-altitude dinner, you will feel so energized that you will want to climb Italy's highest mountain, Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc, 4,805 m above sea level), which dominates this region!
