Casa Iuorio

Claudio, Anna and Mirella are the fourth generation of the Iuorio family, which is dedicated to sustainable farming and processing of vegetables and fruit in the hilly countryside near Palomonte in Campania. In a clean, non-contaminated area between two nature reserves, they farm 11 hectares of fields and beds that they inherited from their ancestors. Due to the difficult terrain, they cannot use machines and all care and harvesting is done by hand. They care for the land in a completely natural way without chemicals. Vegetables and fruit are not grown in greenhouses but in open beds full of sun and natural moisture, and even drying takes place outdoors in the sun. This, combined with the mineral-rich clay soil, gives their produce an authentic, distinctive flavour and plenty of nutrients. Vegetables and fruit are grown seasonally and processed by hand on the spot according to family recipes using only natural methods: drying, pickling in oil or vinegar, preserving, etc.
