Even in the heat of summer, you can enjoy red wine. We have selected six wines that taste great when chilled.
Valpolicella Duca Fedele Massimago
An organic wine with a youthful zest from winemaker Camilla Rossi Chauvenet from the renowned Valpolicella wine region. Its aroma is reminiscent of crisp cherries, aromatic herbs, and white pepper. Its pleasantly fresh taste complemented by subtle minerality makes it the perfect companion for all occasions.
What to pair it with? Beef tartare, mature cheeses, or risottos.
Primitivo Tataranne Puglia IGT I Parieti
A beautiful basic Primitivo for any occasion. It comes from the organically farmed vineyards in Murgia of winemaker Matteo Santoiemma, who farms completely organically and in harmony with the natural rhythms of nature. The hand-picked grapes ferment spontaneously and the wine is then aged in stainless steel tanks. Dry, distinctive with notes of red berries and spices, pleasantly velvety and harmonious. With the name "Tataranne", which means "grandfather" in the local dialect, Matteo paid tribute to his grandfather, who was, like him, a passionate winemaker.
What to pair it with? Pork, tartar, or aged cheeses.
Rosso Frontecasa Il Valtenesi DOC Pasini San Giovanni
The most typical wine from the Valtènesi region, made from the local Groppello variety grown on the slopes of Lake Garda. The ideal companion for summer barbecues. It has a distinctive aroma with notes of strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries and an elegant, juicy taste with round tannins and a long, spicy finish.
What to pair it with? Roasted or grilled meat, skewers, and stronger cheeses.
Kalterersee Classico Superiore DOC Niedrist
A fruity and fresh red wine with aromas of cherries and plums, pleasant acidity, and minerality on the finish. Made from the original ancient Schiava variety, complemented by a touch of Lagrein from Niedrist's 90-year-old vineyards on the calcium- and magnesium-rich hills near Lake Caldaro.
What to pair it with? Beef and chicken, stronger cheeses, grilled vegetables, pasta.
A light, juicy, and harmonious Pinot Nero from the Broglia family's Piedmont vineyards, located on limestone soils at an altitude of between 250 and 280 meters above sea level. The entire vinification process takes place exclusively in stainless steel tanks to preserve the flavor and aroma typical of this variety. Floral and fruity notes are complemented by a dry, perfectly balanced taste.
What to pair it with? White meat, Mediterranean cuisine.
Negroamaro Zacinto IGT Masseria Cuturi
A pure Negroamaro from organic and sustainable vineyards around Masseria Cuturi in Puglia. Winemaker Camilla Rossi Chauvenet vinifies it very gently in stainless steel from grapes harvested by hand in her own vineyards near the sea. It has a distinctive aroma of cherries and red berries, complemented by a round, long taste with elegant tannins. The wine was named Zacinto after the manager of the masseria, who was in charge of organizing the work in the vineyard and loved Negroamaro so much that he secretly hid one barrel for himself every year.
What to pair it with? Strong and spicy dishes, grilled meat, mature cheeses, and salamis.
