Vertical Tasting of Zuani Wines from Friuli with Winemaker Antonio

Oct. 14, 5–7 p.m., The Italians, Smíchov

Three wines, three stories, and several years’ difference in the bottle. The Zuani Winery in Friuli, Italy, specializes exclusively in white wines and produces only three varieties. At the tasting, you’ll sample them all—always in two different vintages—and the winery’s owner, Antonio, will personally guide you through the experience. You’ll enjoy a small vertical tasting, during which you’ll be able to compare how the individual wines evolve over time. Antonio will also bring several bottles from his cellar for this occasion, and you’ll get a sneak peek at one of the wines—it’s not yet available on the market. We’ll serve light refreshments inspired by Friulian cuisine to accompany the tasting.

When: Wednesday, October 14, 5:00–7:00 p.m.

Zuani Winery

If there’s one person who certainly isn’t lacking in courage, it’s Patrizia Felluga, the founder of Zuani Winery. She worked for many years at her family’s winery, but in 2000 she decided to make a radical change and set out on her own. She spent an entire year searching for the perfect place to make a fresh start, until she discovered the Zuani hill in the Collio region of Friuli. She planted four grape varieties there—Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Friulano, and Chardonnay—and today, together with her children Antonio and Caterina, she produces just three wines from them: the flagship blends Bianco Vigne and Bianco Riserva, and a single-varietal Pinot Grigio. All three are among the very best you can taste in Friuli.
